Oleg Zverev (Conductor)

Such as the current great and internationally celebrated russian conductors, Oleg Zverev as well went through the school of the prestigious St. Petersburg Conservatory.

He conducted such renowed russian orchestras as the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Tchaikovsky Radio Symphony Orchestra Moscow, the orchestra of the Opera Studio Rimskij-Korsakov St. Petersburg and the Symphonic Orchestras of Omsk and Volgograd. The Mussorgsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and the Opera House in Novosibirsk invited him to conduct opera performances. Guest conducting engagements led Zverev to Japan, Australia, Germany, Poland, the United States of America and Switzerland.

At the invitation of Valery Gergiev he is guest conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre St. Petersburg in the 2019/20 season.

He has been Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Altaj State Symphony Orchestra in Barnaul, the Irkutsk State Philharmonic Orchestra, which under his direction grew into one of Russia’s foremost and most prominent orchestras, explicitly honoured as such by the Moscow based magazine KULTURA, and of the Ulyanovsk State Symphony Orchestra, which he put on the world's cultural map with concert tours to China and Japan.

Under his direction the musical live in the native town of Lenin got new impulses and was revitalised with open air and gala concerts with international stars such as Denis Matsuev, Sergej Nakariakov and Dmitri Hvorostovsky which attracted up to 15.000 people. Semi-scenic opera performances took place with soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, the Mariinskij Theatre St. Petersburg, the Kiev State Opera, the Teatro alla Scala Milano and other renowned opera houses.

On the occasion of big oratorio concerts and opera performances Zverev worked together with famous Russian choirs, such as the Russian National Choir or the Academic State Choir “Alexander Yurlov Capella Moscow” as well as with the Belorussian National Choir or abroad with the Choir of the Prefecture of Ishikava/Japan et al.

As a lecturer he has taught master classes in Eugene/ USA and in Melbourne/Australia where he also directed the Orchestra of the New Monash University Melbourne within the first International Mahlerfest. Furthermore he advanced young musical talents in projects with the Polska Orkiestra Sinfonia Iuventus (Warsaw / Poland), the Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, the Youth Orchestra of Barnaul (founded by himself) or with the Orchestra of the Musikakademie der Stadt Kassel "Louis Spohr" (Germany).

In 1996 Oleg Zverev was honoured as ‘Artist of Great Merit of the Russian Federation’. In recognition of his achievements in international relationships he was awarded with the medal 'Friendship of peoples' in 2018.
