Konstantin Shamrai (Piano)

Konstantin Shamrai was born in 1985 in Novosibirsk to a family of musicians. Graduated from the Moscow Gnessin Middle Special School of Music and the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music (class of Tatiana Zelikman) before completing a postgraduate course at the academy (class of Vladimir Tropp). Trained at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg (class of Tibor Szász). Received a grant from the Vladimir Spivakov International Charitable Foundation, the New Names foundation and the Richard Wagner Stiftung.

Prize-winner at the Concertino Praga international young performers' competition (2000, 1st prize) and the Youth Delphi Games of Russia (2007, Gold Medal). In August 2008 he won 1st prize and six special prizes at the International Piano Competition in Sydney. Following the competition he undertook several tours of cities in Australia and New Zealand in addition to recording solo CDs with Naxos and ABC-Classics.

Has given concerts in towns in Russia, Austria, Germany, The Netherlands, France, the Czech Republic, Italy, the USA, China, Spain and Singapore. Has collaborated with the Moscow Virtuosi State chamber orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the State Academic Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic, the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mariinsky Orchestra and the Orchestre National de Lyon among other ensembles. Has appeared at the Klavier-Festival Ruhr and the Bayreuth Festival.

In  2011 he won 1st prize at the Bad Kissingen Piano Olympics, and since then he has been a regular guest at the Musiksommer Bad Kissingen festival.
In 2013 he received the Luitpold Festival Prize "for outstanding achievements in music".

Engagements for the 2017–2018 season include appearances at the Moscow State Philharmonic, concerts in Australia as part of celebrations marking forty years since the founding of the Sydney International Piano Competition and tours to towns and cities throughout Russia.
