Waltraud Meier is magnificent in Verdi's repertoire, brilliant in the roles of French composers, but Wagner's heroines brought her world fame and true recognition. Her triumphant performance in the part of Kundry (opera "Parsifal" by R. Wagner) in 1983 entered a new and brightest page in the history of the Bayreuth Festival. Since then, the singer has become its permanent participant, having performed almost all the leading roles in Wagner's operas, which have been firmly associated with her name for almost thirty years. The parts of Kundry, Ortruda, Isolde, Sieglinda, Venus performed by the singer are considered standard. Mayer embodies the roles of these heroines on stage so organically that it seems that they were created especially for her.
Her work in other genres is no less impressive. As part of the first solo concert in St. Petersburg, Waltraud Meier will perform an ingenious chamber program.
