Swedish soprano Nina Stemme is today in great demand at every major
opera house in the world. Following her debut as Cherubino
in Italy, she has sung at opera houses in Stockholm, the Wiener
Staatsoper, the Semperoper in Dresden, Geneva, Zurich, the Teatro
San Carlo in Naples, the Gran Teatre de Liceu in Barcelona,
the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the San Francisco Opera and
festivals in Bayreuth, Salzburg, Savonlinna, Glyndebourne and Bregenz.
She has sung as Isolde in EMI’s famous recording of Tristan und
Isolde with Placido Domingo, with fantastic success at Glyndebourne and
the Bayreuth Festival, the Zurich Opera, the Royal Opera House,
Covent Garden, and the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. Other
highlights include her debuts as Arabella in Gothenburg and Ariadne at
the Grand Theatre de Genиve, her phenomenal Sieglinde and Brunnhilde
(Siegfried) in a new production of the tetralogy
Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Wiener Staatsoper, her debut
as Salome at the Liceu in Barcelona, Brunnhilde in three operas
in Der Ring des Nibelungen in San Francisco, Brunnhilde
in Die Walkure at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan,
Leonore in Fidelio at Covent Garden and in a concert version
under Claudio Abbado at the Lucerne Festival, Elisabeth
in Tannhauser at the Opera Bastille in Paris and Minnie
in La fanciulla del West in Stockholm.
Titles and awards include those of Swedish Royal Court Singer, Member of
the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, Kammersangerin of the Wiener
Staatsoper, the medal Litteris et Artibus from HM King Carl XVI
Gustaf of Sweden and a Laurence Olivier Award for her performance in
Tristan und Isolde at the Royal Opera House London.
Future engagements include Turandot in Stockholm,
La fanciulla del West in Vienna and Paris, Salome
in Cleveland, Carnegie Hall, London and Zurich and Ring cycles
in Munich, Vienna and Milan as well as concerts and recitals
in Berlin, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Salzburg, Oslo.
