Mattia Rondelli (Conductor)

Mattia Rondelli is an Italian conductor who has already appeared on the international scene. His engagements have brought him to some of the most important venues in Italy, Switzerland, UK, Russia, USA, and China. His versatility as a conductor has led to performances of works from both the operatic and orchestral repertoire, wildly ranging from early music to the music of today.

In these last years Mr. Rondelli obtained sensational achievements especially after his meeting with Valery Gergiev and his collaboration with Mariinsky Theatre.

Relevantly, Mr. Rondelli was invited in 2011 to conduct a concert featuring Barbara Frittoli along with the worldly renown Orchestra, Choir and soloists of Mariinsky Theatre at White Nights Festival. That first occasion represented the modern premiere of some sacral pages by Giuseppe Sarti, an Italian composer who either “inspired” Mozart and, having spent almost twenty years at Catherine II court, is considered one of the main fathers of the Russian musical tradition.

The live recording of the concert has been published and internationally released by SONY Classical, the same label had previously released the live performance of Boccherini Stabat Mater featuring Barbara Frittoli as soloist, and Mattia Rondelli conducting I Virtuosi del Teatro alla Scala. Also this recording had an out standing international press appreciation.

In Italy, Mr Rondelli is a regular guest conductor at MiTo SettembreMusica Festival, the second largest Festival in Europe after BBC Proms. Recently he made his debut also on the podium of one of the most important Italian opera Theatre, Turin Teatro Regio and Chicago Philharmonic. He also performed with I Virtuosi del Teatro alla Scala, Arturo Toscanini Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, La Fenice Orchestra, Orchestra del Festival Settimane Musicali di Stresa, Marche Philharmonic Orchestra, Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Turin Philharmonic Orchestra, Rome Youth Orchestra, National Opera Orchestra of Beijing, CCPA Symphony  Orchestra in Chicago, Maestri Orchestra London  and Orchestra Cantelli. In 2011 Mr. Rondelli joined again the St Petersburg Philharmonia, while in 2010 Mr. Rondelli has made his debut at Zankel hall at Carnegie in New York, and previously he had conducted Civic Orchestra in Chicago with Barbara Frittoli singing Berlioz Les Nuits d’èté. In the same year he premiered at Orquestra Sinfonica Nacional de Peru, Mahler 6.  As an assistant he worked at opera productions with D. Callegari, G. Noseda and D. Renzetti.

After his piano studies, Mr. Rondelli earned degrees in both orchestral conducting and music composition from the Milan  Conservatory of Music. His real mentors for conducting have been Piero Bellugi, Jorma Panula and Donato Renzetti. In addition to his musical education, Mr. Rondelli holds a degree in Law .

Mattia Rondelli is a SONYClassical Artist.
