Anika Vaviс (Piano) Anika Vavic trained under Elisabeth Leonskaja, Lazar Berman, Oleg Maisenberg, Alexander Satz and Mstislav Rostropovich. She began studying under Noel Flores at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts and as a child she won numerous international competitions and awards.
Since her first public performance at the age of eight, she has consistently excelled in solo recitals, piano concerts, radio and TV programmes as well as with the Horn-Trio-Wien.
She recorded her first CD with the renowned Quarteto Amazonia from Brazil in 2001. The same year she won the Second Steinway-Competition in Vienna for her interpretation of Haydn as well as being awarded a scholarship by the Herbert von Karajan Centre and the Gottfried von Einem Foundation. In 2002 she was granted the Austrian National Award for Women in the Arts.
In the 2003 – 04 season Anika Vavic, following the recommendation of the Vienna Musikverein and the Vienna Konzerthaus, was chosen for the highly prestigious Rising Stars concert-cycle in New York, London, Amsterdam, Athens and Brussels, with recordings issued on CD by ORF and the Vienna Musikverein.
Anika Vavic has performed at the Ruhr Piano Festival, the Schwarzenberg Schubertiade festival, the Heidelberg Spring festival and the Graz Styriarte festival. She has performed in the Next Generation series in Dortmund and the Grandes Pianistas series at Santiago de Chile`s Teatro Municipal. She has worked with orchestras including the Belgrade and Munich Philharmonic Orchestras and Norwegian Radio Orchestra. Over the 2005 – 2006 season the young pianist completed a tours of Japan and Turkey and was performing recitals in Vienna (Musikverein), Berlin, London and Belgrade.
