Now "firmly back in the limelight" [Financial Times] Christian Blackshaw is recognised for the passion, range and sensitivity he brings to his extensive repertoire. His playing combines tremendous emotional depth with great understanding and, in the words of one London critic, "sheer musicality and humanity."
The past three seasons have seen returns to the Queen Elizabeth and Wigmore Halls, the BBC Proms, the Stars of the White Nights festival in St Petersburg and Berlin`s Philharmonie, as well as further appearances in Europe and the USA. Other festival performances include Helsinki, Prague, Dubrovnik, City of London, Stresa and Britain in Greece in the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales. He has given the complete Mozart Sonata Cycle at the Bath Festival, Wigmore Hall and in Aldeburgh.
Christian Blackshaw studied at the Royal College, Manchester, and the Royal Academy, London, with Gordon Green, Moisei Halfin at the St Petersburg Conservatoire and later with Sir Clifford Curzon in London.
Conductors with whom he has collaborated include Sir Simon Rattle, Valery Gergiev, Gianandrea Noseda, Yuri Temirkanov and Sir Neville Marriner.
