Mireille Dessingy (Costume Designer) Born in Switzerland. Currently lives in Geneva. After studying fashion
design, she opened an atelier in 1980 in Geneva, where she created costumes for
the Théâtre de Vidy, the Théâtre de Carouge, the Comédie de Genève, the Grand
Théâtre de Genève and La Revue Genevoise as well as several dance and circus
companies in Switzerland, France and Italy. She has worked with such set
designers as Roland Deville, Gilles Lambert, Jean-Claude Maret and Eric
Jeanmonod of the Théâtre du Loup. Has worked with directors including
Mathias Langhoff, Manfred Karge, Claude Stratz, Franзois Rochaix, Marc Liebens,
André Steiger and Dominique Catton. Collaborated with Rosella Hightower on
Harold and Maude, as well as dancers from the Alias company and
choreographer Noemí Lapsezon. Regularly takes part in the Avignon Festival
and the Ambronay Festival of baroque opera. For twenty years she has been
designing costumes for the Autrement Aujourd´hui professional company of
mentally handicapped artists. She first worked with Alain Maratrat in 2003,
creating the costumes for La dispute (Marivaux), Three Sisters
(Chekhov) and Peer Gynt. She worked with him on Il viaggio a Reims
at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, also staged at Paris´ Théâtre du
Châtelet in December 2005. Taught a costume design course at the University
of Venice in 2006. Among her most recent works are the costume designs for
Claudel´s L´échange and David Mamet´s Oleanna at the Théâtre de
Carouge in addition to La nuit des rois in Berlin, staged by Alain
Maratrat. Future plans include Alice in Wonderland at the Théâtre Am
Stram Gram in September 2007 and La Revue Genevoise in October 2007.
