Mikhailovsky Classical Ballet and Opera Theatre (established 1833) is a St. Petersburg's second largest Ballet and Opera stage.
It is best Ballet and Opera stage after the World famous Mariinsky (Kirov).
And it is very similar to Mariinsky (Kirov): The Hall is also the hall of the Imperial theatre, beautifully decorated. It was renovated 5 years ago and now looks the same as in 1833.
Most of the Mikhailovsky Ballet Dancers are graduators of the famous Vaganova Ballet Academy - most of the Mariinsky (Kirov) Ballet dancers are graduators of the same academy.
During the last years, Mikhailovsky invited one of the best choreographers and composers, and also top ballet dancers from Bolshoi and Mariinsky.
Mikhailovsky is a great alternative to Mariinsky, if you can not visit Mariinsky (Kirov) for some reason.

Grand Mikhailovsky Theatre stars their 2014/2015 Season on September 8, 2014. During all the month of September only the best classical ballets will be staged - including jewels of the classical Russian Ballet "Swan Lake" and "Sleeping Beauty" by Peter Tchaikovsky; world ballet classics - "Giselle" by Adolphe Adam and "Don Quixote" by Ludwig Minkus.
