The Great Gatsby — is more than a ballet!
The Great Gatsby — is a choreographic show, created by an international team of professionals. The play unites the best parts of parallel genres of art: classical ballet, contemporary dance and cinematography.
The main concept of The Great Gatsby is to go beyond the confines of already existing genres and create an absolutely new trend that’s not constrained by any rules or boundaries
The team of The Great Gatsby consists of those who already reached the pinnacle of their work achievements and are striving to go further by creating something completely new.
The Great Gatsby team comprises of:
Konstantin Meladze (composer) – the most demanded pop composer in the post-soviet territory, and a successful producer.
Dwight Rhoden (director/choreographer) – the most in-demand choreographer of contemporary dance. In addition to creating choreography for Complexions Contemporary Ballet, he has directed and choreographed for Cirque du Soleil and worked with such high-profile artists as Prince, U2, Lenny Kravitz and stars alike. In addition Dwight creates dance sequences for Hollywood movies.
Denis Matvienko (art-director, the main role) – the only holder of four Grand Prix at the international ballet contests and a world renowned ballet star.
Alyona Matvienko (producer) – a person who made ballet as a genre popular in Ukraine and today has brought together three geniuses to work on The Great Gatsby.
The main themes of the The Great Gatsby are identifiable to anyone: vanity and betrayal, love and jealousy, dreams and...loneliness.
That’s why The Great Gatsby ballet was created without any reference to a specific time frame, keeping just a light flair of the 20s.
The premier of the ballet is scheduled for October 2014. The first performances will be staged in St Petersburg, Moscow and Kiev, preceding a world tour.
